Monique Villa heads up Reuters news, pictures and graphics services, which transmit around eight million words and a thousand photographs around the world everyday. 

She is also Chairman of Action Images, a specialist sports photography agency acquired by Reuters in September 2005.

A French national, Monique joined Reuters in 2000, from Agence France Presse (AFP) where she held a number of senior journalistic and management positions. As a correspondent with AFP she reported for a number of years from Paris and Rome , became Deputy Head of its political news service, then Bureau Chief for UK and Ireland , based in London . In 1996, she became Director of Strategy and Business Development at the headquarters in Paris , with responsibility for AFP’s major partnerships worldwide.

Married, with two sons, Monique has studied Law and Political Science. She has a Diploma from the Paris Centre de Formation Des Journalistes.
