Editor in Chief

Jorg Sadrozinski - Taggesschau.de

What do you think has been the most interesting change in your organization as a result of the impact of digital technologies and the internet?

I think that the "old media" editorial staff had to learn that the editors who work with digital technologies and the internet are (mostly) good journalist as well - and that those people are not a gang of freaks...

How have staff roles changed over the last 18 months?

We had to deal with forming one team out of two: in the beginning of our digitalisation project there was one team only working for the digital news channel (Eins Extra) - the other for the traditional "analogue" news editions. Now the people have to work for the digital TV-news-channel as well as for the traditional news editions. So the "innovative", "modern" news editors have to work for the "old" media and vice-versa. And this caused many problems (and still does).

What will be the next big challenge for your organization?

The next big challenge is digitalisation of TV. "Tagesschau" (ARD news) will change its production into news-around-the-clock and delivers its (audio- and video-)news to different platforms (websites, mobile devices, digital teletext and a lot more which we don't even know until now.

What are you most looking forward to at DNA2008?

I look forward to speak with a lot of interesting people and listen to their experiences with digital technologies.
